Connecticut Celebrates AmeriCorps 20!
More than 350 people came together on November 7 to celebrate the

National and Community Service. Headlining the event was
Wendy Spencer, CEO of the Corporation, who gave the keynote address

a great day!!," commented Sheila Greenstein, AmeriCorps Program Director,
AARP Experience Corps. "I received overwhelmingly positive feedback from
my members who attended the launch. They enjoyed everything:
speakers, food, setting - but especially spending time with the other AC
members. They talked about feeling energized by the dedication and
quality of the young members. I agree completely.”
Bill Dyson, chair of the Connecticut Commission on Community
Service, welcomed all to the day-long event held at the Trumbull
Marriott. A rousing talk by motivational speaker
Fowlin energized attendees before they headed to a variety of workshops
on communications, team-building and fostering inclusive environments.
Jacqueline Johnson, Executive Director of the Connecticut Commission,
closed the day by congratulating new AmeriCorps members as they start
their service in
programs across Connecticut.
