Advisory Committee on Accreditation

The Advisory Committee on Accreditation (ACA) reviews proposals for new institutions of higher learning and new degree programs in Connecticut. It makes recommendations for licensure and accreditation for public institutions to the Board of Regents for Higher Education, and recommendations for licensure and accreditation for independent institutions and out-of-state institutions to the State Board of Education. Final approval authority rests with either the Board of Regents or the State Board of Education.

Serving on the ACA are 12 regular members and 12 alternates who serve three-year overlapping terms. Members are drawn from both public and independent institutions and include two representatives of the public-at-large. Responsibilities for managing  ACA business and meetings reside with the Office of Financial and Academic Affairs.
